The Village Church is committed to sharing Christ's love and compassion in the world. Through hands-on mission projects and support of numerous other Christian agencies, the people of the Village Church strive to put their faith into action.

Local and Regional Missions Support:

Care House
Location: San Diego, California – UNITED STATES

Summary:This is a ministry to homeless and at-risk teens in San Diego. Through various program, Care House seeks to share the love of Jesus Christ among the more than 2000 homeless teens in San Diego. In addition to financial support, the Village Church campus hosts an annual Christmas fundraiser for Care House.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Location: Local schools as well as chapters across the nation – UNITED STATES

Summary:FCA is the largest interdenominational, school-based, Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging students, athletes and coaches to make a difference for Christ. Student Ministries director Jay Shirley is a regular speaker/teacher for FCA events at Torrey Pines High School, and several active members of the Village Church’s student ministries are involved as well.

Navigators
Location: Local schools as well as ministries nationwide – UNITED STATES

Summary:Navigators is a national organization that provides Christian fellowship, witness, and discipleship on college campuses across the country. The hallmarks of Navigators’ ministry are one-to-one relationships and small-group studies focused on discipleship. Currently we support Navigators staff worker Darrell Dooyema in San Diego.

Reality Changers
Location: San Diego and Solana Beach, California – UNITED STATES

Summary:Reality Changers is a Christian ministry to at-risk teens in San Diego. Through weekly programs, tutoring, and participation in UCSD’s Academic Connections program, Reality Changers seeks to help teens break the cycle of poverty and violence, attend a four-year college, and grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

San Diego Rescue Mission
Location: San Diego, California – UNITED STATES

Summary:The stated purpose of the Rescue Mission is to “Provide hope to the helpless by forging the best clinical practices with the transforming love of Jesus Christ to yield powerful life-changing results.” Reaching out to the homeless in San Diego, in addition to providing overnight shelters and meals, the Mission offers a 12-month holistic rehabilitation program for men, a 12-month holistic rehabilitation program for women and their children, and Nueva Vida Haven, an emergency shelter for women and their children. A Village Church member, Kay Wilder, is the current chairperson of the Mission’s Board of Directors.

UPLIFT
Location: San Diego, California – UNITED STATES

Summary:Through tutoring programs for low-income children, group activities for low-income seniors, and job placement services for ex-offenders, UPLIFT (Urban People Living In Faith and Trust) provides care and direction for some of those with the greatest needs. UPLIFT’s ministry includes coordinating summer Vacation Bible Schools in low-income areas of the city.

Young Life
Location: North County San Diego, California – UNITED STATES

Summary:Young Life is a non-denominational, Christian organization committed to impacting kid's lives and preparing them for the future. For more than six decades, Young Life has been introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith, while providing strong, positive influences in their lives. Village Church supports two area Young Life staff, Randy Giusta and Scott Rubin.

National and International Missions Support:

Floresta
Location: NORTH AMERICA, CENTRAL AMERICA, AFRICA

Summary:Floresta, a Christian nonprofit organization, reverses deforestation and poverty in the world, by transforming the lives of the rural poor. By combining community development, innovative agriculture, micro-enterprise lending, and Christian discipleship, Floresta has made a significant positive impact on over 136 communities in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Tanzania.

Glad Tidings India
Location: various locations - INDIA

Summary:Glad Tidings India, founded by Dr. William Scott, partners with indigenous churches and other Christian organizations to provide Bibles and equip church planters to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the people of India. The Village Church helped to sponsor a church planter near the Indian border with Myanmar this year.

Paulus Movement – Partners in Evangelism International
Location: Hungary - EUROPE

Summary:The Paulus Movement is committed to evangelism, discipleship, leadership training and church-planting in Hungary. The director, Andras Kazar, served as the national director for Campus Crusade before planting a church in the outskirts of Budapest. The Village Church provides personal and ministry support to the Kazars.

Literacy and Evangelism International
Location: local and international – NORTH AMERICA

Summary:Through ESL and literacy programs, Literacy and Evangelism International provides needed educational help to men, women, and children while introducing them to God’s word in the Bible. LEI’s programs are used locally and around the world as both educational and evangelistic tools.

Mission to the World
Location: Philippines and Southeast Asia - ASIA

Summary:Based in the Philippines, Chris and Jenny Garrett provide training and support for indigenous church planters, evangelists, and pastors throughout Southeast Asia. Jenny is a Rancho Santa Fe native and is the daughter of church members Tony and Holly Wilson.

Presbyterians for Renewal
Location: UNITED STATES

Summary:PFR is a renewal organization within the Presbyterian Church (USA). Its mission statement reads, “As followers of Jesus Christ, seeking to conform our lives and beliefs to the Word of God, our mission is to participate in God's renewing, transforming work in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).” The Village Church’s pastor, Dr. Jack Baca, is a former board member of PFR.
