The Reverend Dr. Jack W. Baca
Senior Pastor
Jack Baca was born and reared in Socorro, a small town south of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico (history major) in 1978, and his Master of Divinity (preaching concentration) from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1982. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Theological Seminary.
Jack's first call to ministry was as associate pastor of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving, Texas. From there he became an associate at First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, and then senior pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. In September of 1998, Jack assumed the senior pastorate of the Village Church.
In addition to his experience with the local church, he has served on numerous presbytery and synod committees, as a national board member and vice-president of Presbyterians for Renewal, and as a commissioner and committee moderator at the 205th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
Jack and his wife, Helen, have four children: Amanda, Robert, Heather, and Rebecca. He enjoys, but is not necessarily good at, golf. He and Helen love to entertain and travel.
The Reverend Janet Kay F. Farley
Associate Pastor

It is my heart's desire to use the joy, enthusiasm and passion of experiencing daily the reality of God's grace and mercy to equip the people of God to reach out to a hungry, disillusioned world."
Jan has served at Village Church for over 7 years and is currently the pastor for Missions and Worship and Arts at as well as working along side the Deacons and Stephen Ministers in the church.
Jan graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Sociology and from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena with two degrees; a Master's in Theology and a Master of Divinity. Theological discussions are her view of "heaven on earth." Jan is married to Rick and they have three children in their twenties. They also have two dogs and a handful of fish. Jan enjoys exercise, reading, sunsets, board games and two food groups; coffee and chocolate. She and Rick have lived in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla for nearly 24 years and feel blessed that Jan has served the Presbytery of San Diego for nearly two decades.
The Reverend Scott T. Mitchell
Interim Associate Pastor
Pastor Scott was born in the East Bay town of Walnut Creek, California, and raised in nearby Concord, where his faith in Christ was nurtured at First Presbyterian Church. It was at First Pres during high school that Scott gave his life to Christ and began to feel the initial stirrings of a “Call” to ministry. After graduating in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in English from University of California, Berkeley, Scott worked as a carpenter, ran a woodstove shop in Santa Rosa, then entered Princeton Theological Seminary, from where he graduated in 1983 with a Master of Divinity degree.
Scott’s first call was to La Jolla Presbyterian Church, where he served as Youth Pastor. Since then, he has served several churches, including the Presbyterian Church of Big Bear and the Korean Presbyterian Church in San Diego. Beginning in 2004, Scott has worked as an Interim Pastor, first at Northminster Presbyterian, then at Tierrasanta Lutheran, and finally, at The Village Church. Scott’s areas of ministry at The Village Church include Family Ministries (Nursery School, Children’s, Youth and Family), as well as Fellowship and Membership. In particular, he loves to hear the stories of newfound faith when young people return home from camp.
Pastor Scott loves his wonderful wife of 15 years, Laura, and two incredible children, Kate (12) and Parker (10). As well, he loves to write, play guitar, create songs, pump iron, read, visit Lake Tahoe and chop wood.
