Philosophy

Believing that a child's early formative years are important to his later life, The Village Church Preschool seeks to provide a high quality program in a warm Christian atmosphere with highly educated professional staff.

The Village Church Preschool has been accredited by the National Association of Education for Young Children. Here are some examples of the criteria for High Quality Early Childhood Programs:

  • Frequent, positive, warm interactions among adults and children

  • Planned learning activities appropriate to children's age and development, such as block building, painting, reading stories, dress-up, and active outdoor play

  • Specially trained teachers

  • Enough adults to respond to individual children

  • Many varied age-appropriate materials

  • A healthy and safe environment for children

  • Nutritious snacks

  • Regular communication with parents who are welcome visitors at all times

  • Effective administration

  • Ongoing, systematic evaluation

The above list was compiled by the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC). We are very proud that we have created an environment that lives up to these high standards.

Goals

For the child

  • To provide a setting where children can be together to develop wholesome social relationships.

  • To provide a variety of experiences which are developmentally appropriate for each child.

  • To provide a continuing experience of Christian love, ideals, and concepts.

For the Parents:

  • To provide the opportunity to meet with other parents and the staff who share a common concern for young children.

  • To provide resources that promote the understanding of the developing child.

  • To provide professional care for the child while a parent may pursue work or other interests.

Staff

The staff are experienced individuals who have been schooled in the needs of the young child. Continued education through workshops, classes and in-service training keeps them aware of new developments in early childhood education. Each teacher has special strengths and interests to contribute as we work with your child.

Parents

You are partners in this first school experience. You will meet others who share similar hopes for their children. Expand your friendships and your activities through the school. Your child as well as yourself will be enriched. Special activities are planned throughout the year for mothers and fathers as well as the whole family.
