The Village Christian Foundation was formed in 2001 by authority of Session of The Village Church in order to be a ministry to givers in San Diego and around the world. It is governed by a separate board of church members who stand ready to help you in your Christian discipleship in the area of stewardship. Those who are given much have the wonderful opportunity to do much in return. We can help you create a personal plan of action to achieve your goal of faithful financial stewardship that will support Christ’s mission here in San Diego and around the world.
Some Ways to Give Through the Foundation
Including the Lord in your estate:
The Old Testament teaches that we are to give 10% to the Lord, and the New Testament teaches that we are to be generous and cheerful in our giving. By including the foundation in your estate plans, you can give “Ten Percent to the Lord Forever.”
Enhance your current stewardship:
In addition to your regular giving to the church, the foundation can assist you in increasing your giving through donor advised funds and non-cash gifts, that may provide greater simplicity and flexibility in achieving your giving goals.
Count Your Blessings
God has blessed you in many wonderful ways. Loving families, good health, and productive work may be among them. Perhaps one particular area of financial resources. Your abundance may spring from the good will of past generations or from your own hard work. In either case, Christians understand that all blessings originate ultimately from our loving Creator.
Consider Your Options
All blessings represent an opportunity. Financial blessings are a form of power in that they allow us to have an impact on not only ourselves, but also on others. No doubt you have wondered before about how you can best use your abundance. You may want to insure the care of your family. You may desire to support your favorite charity or institution. You may wish to use your blessings to bless other people who live in other parts of the world. It is likely that you can accomplish more than you think. Your financial abundance creates an opportunity to reach out far beyond yourself to impact the world. Christians understand that we are blessed in order that we may bless others.
Plan Your Response
You want to do the right thing. You want to make spiritually wise and responsible decisions with all your resources, including your financial ones. And you know that you may need guidance in planning how you will respond to the opportunities that lie before you. Faithful people do their best to care for their loved ones. Faithful people also know that they are called to care for all their neighbors, the ones whom Jesus called, "the least of these." You may already have a plan for the use of your resources, or perhaps you are just beginning. In either case, now is a good time to insure that you take the spiritually healthy step of planning your stewardship.
All investment activities for The Village Christian Foundation are outsourced to professional investment management firms. The foundation operates as a 501 (c)(3) charity as an integrated auxiliary of The Village Community Presbyterian Church.
