The Reverend Dr. Jack W. Baca
Senior Pastor
Jack Baca was born and reared in Socorro, a small town south of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico (history major) in 1978, and his Master of Divinity (preaching concentration)
from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1982. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Theological Seminary.
Jack's first call
to ministry was as associate pastor of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving, Texas. From there he became an associate at First Presbyterian Church
in Albuquerque, and then senior pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. In September of 1998, Jack assumed the senior pastorate of the
Village Church.
In addition to his experience with the local church, he has served on numerous presbytery and synod committees, as a national
board member and vice-president of Presbyterians for Renewal, and as a commissioner and committee moderator at the 205th General Assembly of
the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Jack and his wife, Helen, have four children: Amanda, Robert, Heather, and Rebecca. He enjoys, but is not
necessarily good at, golf. He and Helen love to entertain and travel.
The Reverend Janet Kay F. Farley
Associate Pastor

Jan shares, "I love to proclaim the simple and powerful story that Jesus loves us. I am committed to
equipping the saints and becoming partners in proclaiming salvation through the work of Jesus Christ. It is my heart's desire to use the joy, enthusiasm and
passion of experiencing daily the reality of God's grace and mercy to equip the people of God to reach out to a hungry, disillusioned world."
In her primary role of guiding Adult Ministries, Jan is leading existing programs and is pursuing our congregation's needs for new ministry development.
Jan is married and has three children.
Jan's experience in Adult Ministry has included: church-wide lay training programs, topic oriented Bible studies,
book studies, evangelism courses (Alpha), and courses on our reformed tradition. Some of the programs she has created in other churches which she has
served consist of home fellowships, seasonal "all church" courses during Advent and Lent, and spiritual gift based Elder and Deacon training to name a
few. Jan says, "The goal of education is centered on the reality of a personal relationship with Jesus that is transforming."
Jan has spent the last
two years as Interim Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Oceanside, and prior to that served for nine years as Associate Pastor at Northminster
Presbyterian Church in San Diego. Jan has also served the Presbytery of San Diego in a number of roles, most notably as Moderator in 2000.
Jan graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Sociology and from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena with a Master's
in Theology and a Master of Divinity degree. She loves exercising, reading, playing tennis (albeit infrequently of late) and is a novice golfer. Theological
discussions are her view of "heaven on earth." The most frequent quote from Jan heard around the Farley household is: "Our job as parents is to make you
good not happy." She enjoys watching her family in sports and playing a number of home games with her kids and Rick. She loves to laugh!
The Reverend Mark Swarner
Associate Pastor
Associate Pastor Mark Swarner joined the Village Church staff in February of 2003.
Prior to his arrival at the Village Church, Mark served for seven years as Associate Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point, Indiana. He earned
his Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California and a B.A. in Anthropology, with a Russian minor, from Washington
University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mark's areas of ministry at the Village Church include Mission, Communication, and Stewardship. Mark has had
numerous short-term mission experiences, including trips to Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Mexico, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan, as well as across the
United States. In sharing his thoughts about mission Mark says, "We live in a culture that increasingly sees the church as irrelevant. Part of my passion is to
help the church fulfill its calling to communicate the truth of God's unchanging love to a hurting world. Through mission, the church shares the hope and healing
Christ alone brings with those who need it most."
Mark and his wife, Kerri, have two young daughters. As a family, the Swarners enjoy the outdoors,
gardening, trips to the beach, and generally spending time together. Mark also enjoys playing the guitar, both at home and within the church.
