Your Missions Commission is grateful for the support and growth of missions through the Village Church in 2007 as we seek to make disciples of all nations.
Close to home, we’ve supported Marine families at Camp Pendleton with food and clothing drives, and furthered the work of the San Diego Rescue Mission through clothes and household goods collections. We’ve ministered to students through our support of Christ-centered organizations like Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Navigators, Young Life and the Christian International Scholarship Foundation. We have shared the love of Jesus with San Diego’s homeless teens through Care House. Missions and also sponsored a Harvest Festival on the church campus to reach out to our own community. Events like Angel Tree and the Alternative Christmas Market provided even more opportunities for involvement.
Carrying the gospel out farther into the world, Missions people from The Village Church joined groups from other churches in the area to participate in a trip to India to better understand the needs and the work of The Indian Bible Literature group who are represented in the USA by Glad Tidings India. Groups from The Village Church also visited Los Angelitos Orphanage in Tijuana, and provided a special picnic and Christmas party for children of the orphanage at the end of the year. We have stayed in touch with news of the many new churches we are helping to build along the East African coast. These churches are having a great impact, as is the help we provide to Cheppema Children’s Home in Kenya, Hope Unlimited in Brazil, and other overseas ministries.
In addition to increased personal involvement in missions, we’re pleased to report that our congregation contributed almost $340,000 for missions in combined designated and budgeted missions giving for the year 2007. Our church is truly making a difference in the world for the sake of Jesus Christ, and we’re grateful for the help of The Village Nursery School, Deacons, Children’s Ministries, Student Ministries, Krafty Ladies, Women’s Bible Study, and other groups for their hands-on mission’s involvement this year!
