As our Senior Pastor Rev. Jack Baca has lead us through the past year with emphasis on “Loving God, Loving Others” as illustrated in The Jesus Creed by Scot McKnight, our congregation continues to respond in many ways including our Financial Giving.
For the calendar year 2007 our General Operating Budget was almost $1.9 Million. Revenue and expenses were very close to budget with expenses slightly above revenue (but within 4 %) at year end. This is an improvement over past years. There continues to be an increase in the number of “Pledges” which allow more precise planning of our budget and programs.
Part of our General Operating Budget included almost $200,000 for Missions which was also supplemented by an additional similar amount during the year with gifts for special mission opportunities not included in the General Operating Budget. Our overall congregational Mission giving continues to increase in both amount and percentage.
Financial giving and commitment toward our building program and campus development continues with excitement in early 2008 as we begin the physical process. Just as those before us laid the groundwork, we have the wonderful opportunity to provide for the future as our congregation continues to reach out to the community.
In December 2007, a group of Deacons presented the Session with the concept of a wonderful Village Church bus (to seat approximately 30; funding to come from outside the normal operating budget) for serving La Costa Glen as well as other church activities! This is another wonderful example of service and commitment of our people to “Loving God, Loving Others”.
