Dr. Carolyn Bishop serves as President of the Consortium for Global Education (CGE), an international education organization begun in 1987. CGE supports 42 member universities in the USA and ten countries for partnerships with more than 300 institutions across 90 nations. Dr. Bishop completed her PhD at Emory University in Educational Leadership and Supervision. With a network of global connections, Dr. Bishop assists CGE with campus internationalization including university partnerships. study abroad and internships, professional development, and exchange programs for faculty and students. CGE's reputation for excellence in academic efforts and a heart for service are recognized by global leaders at government, institution, and community levels.
She leads CGE in hosting an Annual Meeting each September and will host a global conference at Handong Global University in South Korea, June 2024. Global issues addressed by Christian educators will be peace building, the global student and leadership, integrating Christian faith on a global campus, and the changing impact of educational collaboration.
She serves as the Director of the CGE's Research Institute that publishes a research journal, Journal of Research by International Educators, JoRIE. JoRIE collaborates with faculty from Australia, China, South Korea, Nigeria, Philippines, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey and Zambia.
She chairs a non-profit organization board, Middle East Bible Outreach, which has distribution across North Africa and the Arab regions. She serves on the board of Salt and Light International engaging Christian leaders and she advises monthly for JIMCC a hospital training program in northern China.
Dr. Bishop resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband, David Bishop. They have two married daughters and eight grandchildren.
